Four Ways to Manage Cellulite

More than 65-70% of women over the age of 30 have cellulite. Cellulite is that bumpy, dimpled "cottage cheesy" looking condition just under the surface of your skin. It's caused by changes in the fat and collagen underneath the skin.

While there are many companies claiming to offer cellulite "cures", including lotions, machines, and oral supplements, the results have been mixed and spotty. As a result, women still experience cellulite.

There are four main ways to manage cellulite which have been widely touted in the advertising and media:

The first is Endermologie. I'm not sure how long this has been around, but believe it's been at least 10-15 years now. (I remember seeing it advertised in magazines when I was in my 20's). Endermologie is a combined treatment which involves diet adjustments and a rolling machine which massages the skin. Frequent treatments are needed and the results don't last very long. Endermologie can reduce the appearance of cellulite for some time, it does not reduce the actual presence of cellulite.

The second is exercise. This is (obviously) a longer-term approach, and, again, the results are not 100% guaranteed. For some women, exercise reduces fat deposits under the skin, reducing the presence and appearance of cellulite. For some women, though, exercise can make cellulite worse.

The third way to manage [tag-ice]cellulite[/tag-ice] is by using lotions with a high concentration of caffeine. Dermatologists, in general, do not believe these will work. They may tighten the skin, but don't dissolve the underlying fatty tissue.

Finally, the fourth way to manage cellulite is to use self tanner. This may be the most preferable option for most people, as it's fast, easy, and inexpensive. Self tanning of the skin will make cellulite look less obvious.

Each of these represent ways to manage cellulite until medical science actually finds a cure.

Acoustic Wave Therapy give the client a more permanent procedure option. The cellulite that is broken down with AWT will not come back. Though, keep in mind, new cellulite can and will form if nothing else is done. It is a natural thing that the body does. Collagen hardens and forms cellulite. Women's collagen in perpendicular to the skin's surface, and that is why women get cellulite, and men get it very rarely.
